The Washington State American Legion Baseball Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation dedicated to the overall growth and development of WA state youths.  The goal of the Foundation is to help the youths of WA State have an   opportunity to play baseball in their community through scholarships and financial aid.

The American Legion Baseball Commission of WA State is proud to announce the formation of the ALB Foundation.  The Commission saw a need to afford all youths of WA the chance to participate in American Legion Baseball.  In an effort to grow the Legion Baseball program, which falls under the Americanism Programs of the American Legion, the Foundation hopes to give ball players the opportunity to learn the benefits of becoming good citizens while competing at the highest levels of amateur baseball.  The Baseball Commission also looks to instill in these youths the values, goals and responsibility of being an American citizen.

Legion Baseball  in WA State derives all of its operating funds through team fees and fundraisers.  The baseball program does take advantage of administrative and personnel support from the WA Legion Department and the Baseball Commission would like to thank present and past state commanders, adjutants and staff for their support.  Numerous Legion post  commanders, adjutants and members also support  the Legion baseball program through their efforts, donations and hours of volunteer work.  To all these Legionnaires – you have the Baseball Commissions undying thanks.  The Commission is also an all volunteer group of Legionnaires who believe in the power of baseball to teach our youths the fundamentals of becoming an American citizen.
After many years of working for the ALB Commission, State Commissioner Don Hays, Dan Sauer Post 1925, recognized the need to provide a means for subsidizing players who could not afford to pay the fees and insurance premiums.  Don came up with the idea of a separate organization to fundraise for the entire state baseball program and then to distribute funds to players for fees, to help pay for team uniforms and equipment, to help posts sponsor teams and to run top flight baseball tournaments.  The tournaments would allow ballplayers to show off their skills to college coaches and pro scouts while gathering from across the state to share their aspirations and camaraderie with fellow  Legion ballplayers.  The Foudation is meant to provide our youths with a great American experience while furthering  the goals and ideals of the Legion.
